Marseille and St. Etienne are the two most successful clubs in the history of French football. Both the teams have emerged as Ligue 1 winners 10 times each.

  • Marseille last won the Ligue 1 in the 2009/10 season. Marseille dominated in the late 80s and won back to back titles from 1988 to 1991.
  • St Etienne single was the most dominant French team during the 60s. St Etienne won 5 consecutive French League titles from 1963 -1969.
  • Paris Saint Germain is the second most successful French club. PSG Has won 9 Ligue 1 titles with the most recent trophy in 2019/20 season. PSG won consecutive titles from 2012 to 2016 and is the most dominant French team currently.
  • AS Monaco and Nantes are the third most successful French sides with 8 titles to their name. AS Monaco last won the Ligue 1 title in 2016/17 season.
