Some of the brightest names in the league, though, are almost certain to move on in the summer of 2022. Just some of the most interesting talents who we expect to see linked with clubs in the summer of 2022, or before, include the following.

1. Boubacar Kamara

Born in Marseille and playing for his boyhood club, one would assume that Boubacar Kamara would be happy to stay where he is.

Despite being a key player for OM under Jorge Sampaoli and Andre Villas-Boas before him, Kamara is almost certain to leave the port city. A fantastically gifted player who can play in midfield and defence, Kamara is set to run out of contract in 2022 and thus is expected to leave OM.

His arrival in England is a near certainty, though AC Milan have been pushing hard to convince the player to come to Italy instead. Newcastle United are also keen, seeing the versatile player as the perfect kind of player to build their new dynasty around.

Kamara is one of the most interesting players in Europe, and definitely has the skills to make a consistent career for himself at the very pinnacle of European football.

2. Amine Gouiri

Football Manager players will know the name, but in Amine Gouiri we have one of the most exciting forwards of his generation. Having scored 6 goals in just 12 games so far, setting up another 4, this is the breakout season that everyone has been waiting for with the former Lyon player.

Capable of playing on the wing and up front, Gouiri is a natural finisher with a penchant for lying in front of his teammates. A highly enjoyable player to watch, expect to see Gouiri move on from Nice as he becomes one of their many highly regarded talents.

A natural worker and finisher, he is great at cutting behind defences and leading counter attacking chances with his natural pace. On top of that, he brings a surprising level of physical power up front. For a player of his stature, Gouiri is a fine example of never judging a player by height alone.

3. Karl Toko-Ekambi

Though the Cameroon forward might be 29 years of age, he has all of the attributes to thrive in a Premier League team. Having played in Spain with Villarreal, the forward returned to France with Lyon and has so far shone for the Rhone outfit.

An exceptional finishing technique that has been refined from his profligate days in Spain, Toko-Ekambi is a versatile striker who can play all along the front line and do well from numerous positions.

He has already picked up nine goals and four assists this year, and has quickly become one of the most interesting players in the Lyon team. Paired up with a natural finishing ability is a happy mixture of pace and strength. Toko-Ekambi shows all of the skills that one would want to see in a modern centre forward, as well as a season-on-season desire to improve.

4. Seko Fofana

A former Udinese player, Seko Fofana made a move to the French game to Lens and has so far proven to be an absolute bargain. Three goals have arrived so far from midfield, but it is his ability to run the game and to progress the ball that is so impressive.

Though Fofana would do well to become more physically robust defensively, he is an excellent ball carrier. He can dribble through the middle of the pitch and use his natural balance and strength to hold off chasers. He can also pick passes with intelligence, can score goals, and brings a natural running power to the midfield that is absolutely vital.

Lens have impressed this year, and it is down to Fofana and a few others. His ability to make decisive movements on and off the ball has quickly established him as one to watch as he enters his peak years.

5. Melvin Bard

Full-back are in high demand these days, and the exit of Romaine Perraud to England left OGC Nice with a big gap in the team. However, the improvement in 20-year-old full-back Melvin Bard might mean he is the next in line to be sold by the Cote d’Azur club.

A fantastic young player, Bard offers effortless running down the wing. A goal and assist have arrived so far in his fledgling time in the first team, while his ability to win duels aerially and to pick out teammates on the wing has been well commended.

A sound passer of the ball, Bard tends to focus on smart passes on the inside of the opposition defence, or cuts down the line, as opposed to crossing. If he can add a more consistent cross to his game, there is no doubt that Bard could play at a higher level.

6. Youcef Atal

The Algerian has been long regarded as a highly interesting player, and it is easy to see why. A tremendously pacey player with an eye for goal, he is surprisingly two-footed and brings a natural enthusiasm to the wing he plays on. Capable of filling in at left or right full-back, Atal has quickly established himself as one to watch in the French top flight.

An excellent enthusiasm for attacking paired up with a full throttle running style, and a great natural center of gravity, makes Atal very hard to stop. At 25, his only real weakness is his mediocre crossing. However, his ability to win the ball high up the pitch, break forward, and find teammates with crisp passes and cut-backs ensures that Atal is one to watch for the present and future.

Expect him to be playing in a different team, or league, by 2022.
